Marijuana: Is it the Devils Weed or God’s Herb He Called Good?

The devil’s weed they call it. Religious leaders said that God’s green herb was from the devil. Um! Do you recall religious leaders saying this, even to this day you hear many religious leaders making this statement? Yet God created the seed-bearing herb and called it good, that included marijuana.

Genesis 1:11 “And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.”

So ask yourself a question, who is correct God or the religious leaders? Is the man preaching the evil of marijuana teaching for or against the Word of God? This is no small issue in the minds of the man preaching using marijuana is the devil’s weed. Yet is it a blatant contradiction that they are preaching against the Word of God. Um! Preaching that God’s creation, the seed-bearing herb is the devils. That ain’t right.

Genesis 1:12 “And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the moring was the third day.”

God saw that the seed-bearing herb was good, and men call it the devil’s weed. How can that be? In  Roman’s 14, this issue is explained, but many will call this a lie, a false belief. False teaching. But is it?

Romans 14:1 “Him that is weak in faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. 2 For believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak in faith, eateth herbs. 3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not: and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.”

So God has accepted people who use herbs, marijuana is a herb. But the people on the pulpit still call it the devils weed. This seems a total contradiction to the Word of God.

Romans 14: 4 “Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

Ask yourself, why do you condemn when God does not?

Romans 14:5 “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord: and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks: and he eateth not to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.”

Is it not odd that God accepts things, but men refuse to accept what God has called good. Men condemn others because they regard something, God called good as evil. Who’s mind is confused, the people who condemn or those who accept the Word of God and believe it?

When did God condemn his creation that he called good? When did he condemn the men who use his creation?

Romans 14: 7 “For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord: and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end, Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.”

Here in Romans is the question.

Romans 14:10  “But why dost thou judge thy brother? Or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written, As I Live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.  12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”

Here too, in Romans is the answer to the question.

Romans 14: 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

And here is the truth that so many wishes to ignore and continue to teach that God’s creation he called good is the devil’s weed.

Again the confusion is answered, and if one opens their heart to the Word of God, they will be able to understand.

Romans 14:14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

Ah Hah, so here is the problem for many. They think marijuana is unclean, the devils weed. So to them, it is unclean. But God created the seed-bearing herb, he called it good. This is the very nature of the confusion.

But the answer is revealed in Romans.

Romans 14:15 “But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. 16 Let not then your good be spoken evil of. 17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink: but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

And here is the answer to all those people who condemn the users of marijuana.

Romans 14:18, ” For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. 19 Let us, therefore, follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. 20 For meat destroy not the works of God. All things indeed are pure: but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.”

If a man thinks it is wrong to use herbs, then it is a sin for him to use. But to the man who accepts the herbs as a creation from the hand of God and it is pure and good because God said it was then there is no sin when he uses marijuana, no matter if he smokes or eats it. It’s all the same to men who think its evil.

Romans 14:21  “It is good neither good to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. 22 Hast thou faith? Have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

In Romans 14:23, we find the real reason, so many believe that marijuana, a seed-bearing herb that God called good, is evil. Here in this last passage or Romans 14 is the truth that many refuse to accept.

Romans 14:23 ” And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”

So the truth lies in the fact that the religious leaders doubt so he preachers it is a sin to use. When it is obvious, it is not a sin; it is merely a choice.

If you turn to Romans 15:1, you see the real answer to this question.

Romans 15: 1 “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification. 3. For even Christ pleased not himself: but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

So it seems from a marijuana user, who told his mother when he was 13 that it was a gift from God and not the Devil’s weed. That the truth is very simple to let us live together in peace and turn our attention to giving glory to God and support one another for though a man is weak in faith, God can make him strong in faith. A man who is strong in faith can become weak in faith, through the condemnation of his own beliefs.

This is no different than those who do not eat pork or shellfish. Sin is based on the belief in God. Should we not listen to what God tells us about our own sins?

We are to be of one mind and one mouth to glorify God. To receive each other as Christ received us to the glory of God.

The message is simple don’t let our differences in the belief of things of the world turn us against each other. We may not agree, but we all have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and God as the Father who we with one voice give glory to God, the Creator, the “I Am, That I Am,” the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. This is the only thing that matters in the end. A common belief in the Bible, God, Jesus Christ, and the sacrifice of his of Jesus Christ and his blood spilled for the sins of man. Glory to God and blessed be the name of Jesus Christ.
